.08 RESIDENTIAL USE OF CITY DUMPSTERS (2024-09)
The City will provide a dumpster, as available, upon request to residential properties. At the time of request, the resident will be required to fill out and sign a rental agreement. This is to be returned to City Hall prior to the delivery of said dumpster. The City will take into consideration requested area for the dumpster to be placed but does not guarantee requested placement.
The dumpster rental fee and dump fees of $13 per yard will coincide with non-residential dumpster fees and said fees will be added to monthly utility bills issued by the City with the following regulations:
- a) Dumpsters will be charged $1.50 per day of possession for the first 30 calendar days. After 30 days, the cost will increase to $4 per day until dumpster is returned to the City.
- b) The holder of the dumpster will need to call when the dumpster is needing to be dumped and/or said dumpster is ready for the City to remove it from the property. Once the dumpster is removed from the property, the dumpster will be emptied and all accrued fees will be applied. Another dumpster cannot be requested within 10 days of previous dumpster removal.
- c) If a resident has had City utility services disconnected for nonpayment, the resident’s dumpster may be seized at this time.
The following materials are not permitted in City dumpsters:
- Liquid Chemicals
- Paint
- Shingles
- Bricks/Concrete
- Electronics
- Tires
- Car Batteries
- Heavy Metals
- Yard Debris
If these items are found in the dumpster, the dumpster will be seized and a $100 fine as well as a dump charge will be added to the resident’s City utility account. If the resident commits a second offense, they will no longer be eligible for dumpster rental.
In addition, City dumpsters are not to be used for household garbage, dumpsters should not be filled more than 12” above the height of the dumpster and are not to be requested for use by hired contractors. These dumpsters are available for use by residences of Fairbury only.
The City holds the right at any time to retrieve a City dumpster from a residential property.
